Old Dungeness Lighthouse

The Old Dungeness Lighthouse is almost 46 metres high to the top of the weather vane and 11 metres in diameter. Opened in 1904 by His Royal Majesty the Prince of Wales, it survived two world wars before decommission in 1960. Whilst you are here enjoy local trails and walks to the beach, the RSPB Nature Reserve and the Lifeboat station. Cottages adapted from old railway carriages are a distinctive and picturesque feature of the area.

The Dungeness peninsula is famous for its Lighthouse, Miniture Railway and Dungeness Nature Reserve. Dungeness nature reserve covers almost 1,000 Hectares and is the largest shingle formation of its kind in Europe. The nature reserve has six hides, a visitor centre and has disabled access.

Lyyd Town Museum is situated in the old Fire Station. The museum offers conducted walks around the town between July and September and tours of the museum between Easter and October.
