Big Brothers Chanelle opens HMV

28/11/07
The new HMV store in Bouverie Place had its official opening today with a celebrity suprise. Big Brother 8's Posh Spice wannabe kept the public waiting while she browsed the store, then at five minute to five o'clock she appeared at the doors to cut the ribbon.

As she appeared the crowd cheered and screamed her name, but mostly booed and there were many unkind remarks being shouted from the surrounding crowd.

Chanelle was also there to promote and sign her 2008 calender, and with a long queue forming to the left of the store she was in for a long night.

With HMV pulling in a "celebrity" for their grand opening I am sure they will have a busy evening ahead.

All we can say is "Chanelle, you are evicted........."

Bouverie Place open for business

26/11/07
At last after years of will we won’t we? Bouverie Place shopping centre has opened in Folkestone. Residents of Folkestone have watched, most in expectation but some I suspect with trepidation as the monster rose up out of the ground. Visitors can’t fail to miss it if they arrive in Folkestone along Cheriton road as it impressively dominates the skyline.

Today 26th November - At 10am the doors opened to the public. The shoppers of Folkestone turned up in their hundreds eager to see what was on offer and continued to arrive as the day went on.

I am sure there are some residents who will find something to complain about but with the centre bringing big high street names to the people of Shepway it is a much needed boost to the area. I for one give it the thumbs up....more

Although it was reported in the local papers and on the radio, some residents were only aware that something was going on when they heard some loud bangs throughout the morning.

Rare Lion cubs make debut at Port Lympne

12/08/07
Aswad and Buni are the latest edition to a family of Barbary Lions at Port Lympne Zoo near Hythe. The cubs were born on June 1st but were only shown to the world this week by their keepers.
Barbary Lions are believed to have been extinct in the wild since the early 20th century, and can only be found in captivity.

The cubs have a big sister Savannah who keeps a close eye on them while they play and become increasingly enquisitive. The cubs will be fully grown in two years time and have created a great amount of interest from visitors.
